The Five B's

The five B's would be Barb, Brooke, Boone, Blowing Rock and Banner Elk.

I have to leave these gorgeous North Carolina Mountains tomorrow after a wonderful month of pure enjoyment. My parents' roots are here and I belong here.(Someday I will live here). I am probably going to ruin today due to excessive worry over tomorrow. But Jesus says, "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." - Matthew 6:25.

[time has passed]

Ugh, we just got back from the Daniel Boone Inn where we were served family style:
Fried Chicken, Salisbury Steak, Ham biscuits, green beans, corn, mashed potatos, gravy, baked apples, slaw, green salad, and a choice of dessert; chocolate cake with fudge sauce, strawberry short cake, or banana pudding.
It was absolutely delicious and I am fat and happy. We are going off again to see the gorgeous day that is laid before us.

Well, the point of the blog is to try to convey just how much I love this place. The beautiful greens, grays and blues with dappled yellows from the sun are so crisp and vivid. The humidity is very low so it is clean and clear. There is a cool in the air and when I am in the sun, it is warm and cool at the same time. A few leaves are falling, a sure signal that autumn is on the way. Song fills the air as the birds and locusts chirp and crow for mates and just want us to know they are here. The beautiful bright red Cardinal which is the state bird of North Carolina darts about the front yard. I see the perfectly executed work of a spider from last night's web. (Of course you all know that creeps me out.)
A more perfect day cannot be found. My wish for everyone is to be able to experience such loveliness.

Please go to my High Country photos and see a small fraction of what I am able to experience. Then come up here yourself someday and see heaven.

This photo has been done by many photographers. It is the Linn Cove Viaduct in Blowing Rock, NC
This Viaduct is a 1243-foot concrete segmental bridge which snakes around the slopes of Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina. It was completed in 1983 at a cost of $10 million and was the last section of the Blue Ridge Parkway to be finished. It is said to be the most complicated concrete bridge ever built. The bridge has received eleven design awards.

Love you all!!
Bye for now

To all you photog Geeks out there, I am soon to offer my own very primitive rendition of camera/lens/photoshop comparisons for your viewing and learning pleasure. It will be in a category of it's own called For Photog Geeks only in my Photography section. If you are in this category, please forgive me for any imagined slur here. Of course, if you peeked in to the category, you must have somehow fancied youself a "photog geek" so then you must accept the label or graciously back out of the galleries.
ok, that said....
we move on to what is included. Direct comparisons of my equipment. If anyone would like to see a comparison of a Nikon D3 or (God forbid) a Canon 1Ds MkIII, you will need to give me these items at a cost of approximately $13,000.
I do have a new Nikon 14-24 f2.8AF lens to compare in addition to 24-70 and 70-200. My newest baby is a Lensbaby. I can't seem to find the sweet spot, will soon I hope. (that or mail it back!)
So for now the new category and resulting galleries are on hold until I can shoot it. Please check back as the whole website is still under construction and probably always will be.
I am pleased to announce that in the month of December, I had 26,591 hits, and in January 28, 28,187 hits on this site! I am blown away by that!! It has been getting more every month and this month I am on tap to receive 130,000 hits!! Unbelievable. Thank you so very much for your support and I pray that each one of you is blessed by what you see. Please leave comments and criticism. All is greatly appreciated and your input is so very important to me.

Let's Talk Pro Football (as opposed to gloating about LSU being ranked #1!!!).

At this time of year, I am always sad. Only one football game left. The Big One. Unless you live on another planet, you know which one it is and unless you are one of those wierd Food Network, Discovery Channel, Black n White movie people, you have to know that it is the Super Bowl with the Giants and the Patriots.

I was totally shocked that my Peyton Manning lost to San Diego. No way, it was the unthinkable. But there it is. San Diego, a team riddled with injuries fought a hard battle and beat the Colts.
So meanwhile after beating the Chargers themselves, the big bad Belichick boys still undefeated for the entire season and post season. Only conquest left for them is the Super Bowl, which was out of their grasp last year. Out, because of Peyton Manning and the Colts. Last year a Manning cost them the trip to the Bowl. And this year another Manning will give them a run for their money in this year's Bowl.
So let's bring this on home. My favorite QB's are as follows and the order changes as their performances change.

Eli Manning - He went to school at Ole Miss and is a New Orleans boy. Love Daddy Archie who was the starting Quarterback at Ole Miss for two years and played for the New Orleans Saints, so he is a good guy.
Back to Eli, he is really cute, too and Jonathan knows him from school. Go Eli!!! PLEASE beat the cocky arrogant Pats. Sorry, I digress.
So right now he is my favorite QB and the Giants are my favorite team cause they are the only ones that stand a chance to save us from the horror of the Pats winning yet again. Ugh. Again, I appologize for my blatant racism again the Patriot race.
Now, I don't frankly have a huge amount of faith in their winning over the Pats, though. Let's face it, the Giants won the game yesterday agains the Packers by the hair of their chinny chin chins in overtime. (Well, if kicker Lawrence Tynes had not missed two field goals, things would have changed.) Anyway, what a nail biter this game would have been had I given a rat's arss who won. Love them both.

Can't talk about Eli without getting brother Peyton in there. We all thought it would be this Manning in the Super Bowl, not little bro. Peyton is awesome and adorable too. Great commercials - go Peyton. Last years' Super Bowl winner, nuff said.

Poor sweet Brett Farve. The Packers just knew they were going to win the NFC chamionship game. Must be scratching their collective head now. It it hadn't been one of my other favs, I could've mustered a tear. He is a cutey pie, too. Love that blonde hair and scruff on his face. Yes, I know he has a beautiful wife, but I think he dreams of me at night. Brett, if you are listening...well, never mind. Brett went to the Univ of Southern Mississippi. He lives (when on the coast, no, dummy, he doesn't commute) in a place they call The Kiln. Not much to that place. Did I mention that he was born right here in Gulfport, Mississippi? (No hospital in The Kiln) He's only 17 years younger than me. Well???

Tony Romo. He has guided the Dallas Cowboys well this year. It was hard for me to watch the playoff game between then and the Giants cause I like them both. I did lean toward the Giants though.
I really like the show, Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders too. ;)

Conspiculously missing will be any mention of the Saints (Aints).

And then there is jailbird, Michael Vick from the Atlanta Falcons. Who doesn't love a dog torturer and murderer? Had to throw that in there.

Oh yea...I forgot to bring up that unpleasantness about Bill Belichick cheating, didn't I? Did I also forget to mention that Pats fans can also buy T Shirts that say "I hate Peyton Manning"? I feel sure his brother will have the honor of getting his name on a shirt too, especially if the unthinkable happens and he beats them. Pray hard, people. If God cares at all who wins a football game and I really doubt He does, then this is the one He would surely want to see Eli win and not the dirty cheaters. Ouch, I am baaaad.

So that is the football and QB rant from me.
Down to business. What's the line on the Super Bowl? Do I want to be positive, go with my Eli, and possibly lose my butt, or bet on the the most hated team in America? I think you already know.
