Equipment I have
This is my gear. A spoiled brat, I am a Nikon gurl thru and thru. Simply the best. (No offense to the other great manufacturers)
Not pictured: Various antique camera and lenses.
AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED I own it now too!!!! I now have all focal ranges that I care about covered. What total bliss! This is a brand new lens that came out in November, 07. Wide angle lens, great for landscapes and whole room shots. While I don't need all of its capabilites with the D300, it is still a super lens. And now I have wide angle covered for the first time. Add this one to my list of Professional lenses that I think will be a 10. Just got it Feb. 8/08. SO EXCITEDDDDDDD!!!
NIKON 105mm f/2.8 MICRO I own it and I love this lens. This is the forerunner of the newer VR style. Noted Camera expert, Ken Rockwell says he likes this better. It is great for portraits and architecture as well as birds, little animals and insects you don't want to get too close to. I give it a 10 for micro. Since I don't need it that often, I give it a 9.
D800, built for today’s multimedia photographer includes a groundbreaking 36.3MP FX-format CMOS sensor, Full HD 1080p video at 30/25/24p with stereo sound, class leading ISO range of 100-6400, expandable to 25,600, 4 fps burst rate and Advanced Scene Recognition System with 91,000-pixel RGB sensor. I have this puppy ordered and can't wait to check out the super smooth and crisp images this baby will do. What a great new pair these cameras will be!
Nikkor 24-70mmf AF-S f2.8G ED Zoom Lens I own it!!! This is the perfect lens for portraits and most normal ranges. SO EXCITED! I am lovin it. This is the lens that stays on my D300. Oh my gosh, it is SOOOO heavy!! Bigger than anything I already had including my 70-300 zoom. Its a work out to be a photographer!! I will do whatever it takes! Another perfect 10! WOOHOO!!!
Nikon D3 SLR FX Digital Camera 12.1 Mega-Pixel WOW!!! in January 2009, I bought this for myself. I am still in awe and feel like it even ups my awesomeness too!! Haha, just kidding. While I know the D3X is here, I still think this D3 is the top for me. The low light capability is so fine. I have pumped the ISO up to 3200 and see NO noise. Does anyone else relate to wanting "Crisp" pictures? Now I am finally getting crisp pictures thanks to the D3 and PS. To end like I started...WOW. Sadly I will be saying goodbye to my old friend and selling it to someone who will love it as much as I did. I will get some money and a new website for it though and my two new camera bodies. 3-2012
Nikkor 70-200 AF-S VR Zoom f2.8G IF-ED Lens lovingly called a behemoth. I really can't believe I am saying this but................... I OWN IT!!!!!!!! Yes, I really do!!! This is a legendary Pro lens and touted as the pinnacle of (zoom) lenses. It is great for longer range shots, birds, animals, and stealth portraits. I wanted one, but wanted the 24-70 worse and first. And I thought that one was heavy!!!!! I really don't need the distance lens as much as a closer one. But, come on, who wouldn't want this bad boy in their repertoire and camera bag (if it would fit!!) . Everyone gives this lens a 10. I will hold and fondle this one and take many pictures with it. LOL
AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED I own it. This lens came in the kit with my D70 and like the 70-300, it is not a pro lens. Don't get me wrong, it has served me well, but my needs have changed and I am ready for sharper clearer subjects. I won't sell this lens, though. For a kit lens, it is very good. The pros were surprised. My rating is a 7.
Nikon D300 DX Digital D-SLR Camera, 12.2 Megapixel It just won Popular Photography's Camera of the Year in 2007! Nikon's newest digital SLR is chosen as the camera that best refined or redefined photography for 2007. I OWN It !!!!!!!. Just got it and it is SO smooth. This is a new Professional camera body released in November, 2007. All the pros are clamoring over it (& the D3) and I am thrilled to have it. ooohhhhh how sweet. This, my friends, is a 10 !
Nikon D70 6.1 Megapixel, SLR, Digital Camera Body When it came out, it won EVERY award given to cameras! It was the poster child for SLR's. I own it. This was my primary camera for the last 31/2 years. I have dearly loved it and plan to continue loving it for many years to come. It is tough and still looks like it is brand new. I have never had one spot of trouble out of it. I now have the D300, but occasionally use the D70 also with another lens on it. Carry them side by side. They rarely bite, pinch or scratch each other. So here is your review. I will qualify by saying, it is not a professional camera, but it is a top of the line amateur camera. For what it is and for it has given me I give it a 10.
AF-S Nikkor 18-200 f/3.5-5.6G ED VR II. Some photographers love this lens for its versatility but I have no love for it. I find the images are not as sharp as my FX lenses are. The colors are not right either. I took it as my sole lens when I traveled to Colombia to photograph a wedding and was very disappointed. Never again will I worry about carrying my best equipment when traveling. I will pass this one down to my kids if they ever get into photography.
Lensbaby 3G I own it! The Lensbabies have selective focus so you can put it where you want and the rest is blurry and sometimes looks as if you are in flight while shooting. Some of the photography you see in magazines of food and housewares are shot with this lens. It is especially good with flowers and close up photography. It is a manual focus lens and does not communicate with the camera. So it's all me, baby. Drawback: Now that I have had it for a while, I see my limitation is my eyesight. It is very hard for me to focus with my glasses on looking thru the little viewfinder. I find myself holding my breath. I can ONLY do it on a tripod. So for this I give it a 7.
